Our Mission

To provide families with the necessary resources to make their homes the epicenter for the effective and lasting discipleship of their children

What is the Discipleship Project?

The Discipleship Project is a non-profit ministry working to create a movement among families to ignite a passion for biblical discipleship of our youth in our homes and help our students engage their world with the gospel for the sake of their world.

“Far too many parents leave their child’s high school graduation worried if they did enough, taught them enough, or discipled them enough–they are left wondering if their kids are going to make it?”

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. – Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. – Proverbs 22:6

When we put the Bible and the discipleship of our kids at the center of our homes, our lives and the lives of our children are fundamentally changed. But doing so in our fast-paced, post-truth, post-Christian culture is becoming increasingly difficult. It is our goal to keep our resources either incredible affordable or completely free so that every family has access to much needed help.

What We Do

Coaching Online & In-Person

We gather groups of parents either in person or online from one-day workshops to 6-week training cohorts. All of these options provide the necessary community environment and practice in order to create the greatest possible impact on our families and the lives of our kids. We meet at churches, coffee houses, restaurants, social media, even online chats–whatever works best for you and your group. Groups launching fall of 2020.

Practical Resources

Using Steve’s more than 15 years of youth ministry experience as a teacher and non-profit leader combined with our own crazy family life and experiences of our kids, we aim to create practical, hands on resources that can be used in the classroom, in youth group, or in the living room. We write books, make videos, curriculum, and Bible studies, specifically designed to help you understand youth culture, connect better with your kids, and of course, make disciples.

Because the conversation never ends. Join Steve, his thoughts, and random guest (including the kids), as we think together about what it means to make great disciples of the rising generation, conquer the obstacles, tackle the tough questions, and walk this journey together.

What Some of Our Parents Say…

Steve has a unique way of taking complex theology and apologetics topics and making them simple and accessible to use in everyday conversations. Not only do my kids understand better, but I do to.

― Michelle, parent

My wife and I knew discipling our son was a top priority. But we found it hard to keep up. Steve’s approach in The Discipleship Project really helped make sense of youth culture and what our son was going through.

― John, parent

Our Team

Founder / Visionary

Steve began working with teens more than 15 years ago as a church volunteer. It wouldn’t be long before he became a full-time Bible teacher, Dean of Spiritual life and eventually moving into executive leadership for two different non-profit para-church ministries. He has traveled all over the United States training students, parents, and pastors on how to create discipleship that lasts in our youth.

Co-Founder / Homeschool Teacher / Creative

Every moment Steve has spent in ministry, Erin has been right there working alongside. Her full time gig is homeschool the tribe and keeping the house in order. She is the editor, is Steve’s creative counterpart, and sees to it that everything we make is accessible and practical. All because she has an undeniable passion and burden to see families grow in their faith together.

We are guessing you still have some questions?

Great! We love questions. Why not send as email or set up a call. We would love to connect and find a way to help your family, church, or school.

Have a small group that you want to lead through our materials? Love it! Shoot us an email and we will work one-on-one with to make sure you are set up for success.
